FAQs
The Township aims to convert the land into an industrial park. What is an industrial park?
An industrial park is usually created outside cities or away from residences, schools, daycare centers, and hospitals. This allows industries to thrive without creating visual or noise pollution for residents.

What are the benefits of an industrial park for a municipality such as Alfred and Plantagenet?
An industrial park allows businesses to thrive outside of cities without creating visual or noise pollution for residents.
The Township's goal is to help local entrepreneurs grow their businesses on a site that offers all the necessary services.
This site will also promote the creation of well-paid jobs in various trades.
What are the estimated revenues of the industrial park?
The Township believes that selling land to industries will enable it to repay the debt incurred for purchasing the land and installing services. No profit will be generated from these transactions. However, the tax rate increases by approximately 3.5% when a site changes from agricultural to industrial use. This will provide additional revenue for the municipality, enabling it to fund services such as road maintenance and recreational activities. Residents could also benefit from a smaller increase in their municipal taxes.
